About this role

The Medical Science Liaison Pain serves as a scientific liaison to the medical and academic community. The role establishes and maintains relationships with Health Care Providers and Professionals to ensure timely dissemination of clinical and scientific information regarding Vertex compounds in an ethical and stakeholder-focused manner.

The MSL contributes to shaping the medical plan by providing external stakeholder insights and supports the design and execution of Medical Affairs strategy. Engagements address scientific educational and research needs with Vertex resources while delivering the latest emerging data in response to specific inquiries.

Daily work incorporates the Scientific Engagement Model into all Thought Leader interactions and captures feedback in the CRM system to inform internal stakeholders. The MSL represents Vertex at medical congresses through session coverage, booth staffing, and preparation of daily and end-of-congress summaries.

The position may serve as a mentor for colleagues with less experience, including assistance with new hire MSL onboarding. All activities are conducted in compliance with Vertex policies while completing administrative tasks such as CRM entry and expense reporting in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Develop and foster effective trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and engage other appropriate HCPs to build a network of care providers and opinion leaders
Incorporate the medical plan into interactions and territory planning while capturing valuable feedback in the CRM system to shape medical strategy
Discuss scientific information effectively and compliantly with external stakeholders at an advanced level for both disease state and product topics
Assist clinical development and clinical operations by presenting IB material at SIV meetings and providing trial site nominations as requested
Represent Vertex at medical congresses by providing scientific session coverage, booth staffing, and preparing daily and end-of-congress summaries
Serve as a mentor or trainer for colleagues with less experience, including assistance with new hire MSL onboarding
Conduct all activities in compliance with Vertex policies and complete administrative tasks such as CRM entry and expense reporting in a timely manner
