About this role

The Head of International Medical Affairs for Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolic (CRM) provides medical and scientific leadership to support pre-launch preparation and new product or indication launches for priority brands internationally. This role is central to bringing innovative therapies to international markets by shaping the strategic direction of launches and Life Cycle Management.

Day-to-day, this role translates deep science into differentiating, patient-focused medical affairs strategies that support key pre-launch and launch activities. It includes advancing innovative launch readiness solutions, developing medical/scientific engagement strategies, and ensuring the therapeutic area is prepared to deliver value for patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Reporting to the Head of International Medical Affairs, this role is a member of both the International Medical Affairs Leadership Team and the TA Leadership Team. It brings together medical perspectives across regions and priority countries, ensuring consistency on Integrated Evidence Plans, messaging, and strategy that support access and clinical adoption.

This position offers the opportunity to coordinate efforts internationally, connecting regional and country-specific needs with broader organizational objectives. By tailoring medical activities to address unique market challenges, this role contributes to successful launches and the long-term success of products, advancing the mission to improve and extend people's lives.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic therapeutic areas
  • Advanced medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) with experience in pharmaceutical medical affairs
  • Proven experience leading pre-launch and launch medical activities for priority brands in international markets
  • Strong understanding of Integrated Evidence Plans and evidence generation strategy
  • Ability to provide consolidated medical perspectives across regions and priority countries
  • Experience developing medical engagement strategies including MSL programs, medical education, and scientific congresses
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional collaboration with Value and Access, Commercial, and R&D teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and scientific leadership input into priority assets and Life Cycle Management of the CRM portfolio and pipeline post-TDP
  • Develop innovative launch readiness solutions including MA planning and execution of the medical/scientific engagement strategy
  • Deliver strategic pre-launch and launch medical activities addressing patient and clinical adoption needs while partnering with Value and Access and Commercial Launch Strategy
  • Serve as one cohesive medical voice for regions and priority countries by engaging with regional and in-country MA teams
  • Provide international MA input into Integrated Evidence Plan planning and evidence generation strategy and implementation
  • Ensure trial operationalization optimally addresses priority country needs including footprint and patient population
  • Provide consolidated view of Integrated Evidence Plan gaps for priority countries to support launch
  • Deliver IMA inputs to enhance patient access and demonstrate value to practitioners and payors throughout the product lifecycle
