Under the general supervision of the Director, the Pharmacist will be responsible for having a working knowledge of all areas of pharmaceutical services provided by the hospital, including drug distribution systems, central operations, and IV admixture. This position offers the opportunity to work with a collaborative clinical team and make a direct impact on patient care and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all dispensing related functions including entering medication orders, preparing and labeling medications, compounding oral and injectable preparations using proper aseptic technique
- Contact and confer with physicians regarding medication order questions or irregularities, documenting all recommendations and corrective actions
- Perform antibiotic stewardship activities by reviewing culture and sensitivity information and making therapeutic recommendations
- Participate in clinical activities including Team Conferences, patient rounds, medication management teaching, and mentoring pharmacy students
- Consult with physician and nursing staff concerning drug availability, forms, side effects and incompatibilities
- Maintain drug literature resources and serve as a resource to other departments
Experience Requirements
One or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred
Education Requirements
Current state licensure as a Pharmacist required
