Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist to join our healthcare team in McHenry, Illinois. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safest, highest quality, and most effective patient care while advancing pharmacy services across our healthcare system.
In this position, you will be responsible for identifying, preventing, and resolving medication-related problems while providing authoritative information to healthcare professionals, patients, and the public. You'll work as part of an integrated system that delivers patient-centered care throughout the Northwestern Medicine enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret medication orders to ensure safety and proper use, monitoring for compatibilities, allergies, and potential administration errors
- Monitor medication therapy for drug interactions and therapeutic duplications, intervening when pharmacokinetic expertise is warranted
- Evaluate and document appropriate medication selection for desired therapeutic outcomes
- Act as consultant in pharmacokinetics and adverse reactions to physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals
- Process medication orders into Electronic Health Records and maintain comprehensive patient profiles
- Oversee packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications including sterile products and chemotherapy
- Provide education and training programs for medical staff, pharmacy students, residents, and fellows
- Respond to emergency situations and participate in quality improvement activities
Experience Requirements
Pharmacy residency program completion or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience preferred
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required, current Illinois pharmacy license
