Pharmacist I - Outpatient Pharmacy

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a dedicated Pharmacist I to join our Outpatient Pharmacy team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment focused on improving patient care and serving the Arkansas community through comprehensive pharmaceutical services.

As a Pharmacist I, you will work with minimal supervision to assess, prepare, and dispense medications while coordinating all day-to-day pharmacy operations. You'll use your clinical knowledge and judgment to review orders, ensure safe and effective medication therapy, and evaluate appropriateness of dose, route, formulation, allergies, and drug interactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fill prescriptions in the OPC Pharmacy utilizing computerized filling software with complete accuracy
  • Review medication orders to ensure safe and effective therapy, including dose, route, allergies, and drug interactions
  • Provide supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians and students in day-to-day dispensing functions
  • Serve as a drug information resource and provide educational information to healthcare professionals
  • Document clinical interventions in the medical record and communicate with healthcare team members
  • Act as IPPE student preceptor, providing training and education as assigned
  • Prioritize workload based on patient needs and manage team efficiency

Experience Requirements

1+ years experience as a pharmacist in retail or hospital setting with advanced skills

Education Requirements

BS or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
