This pharmacologist role develops anti-cancer drugs including antibody-drug conjugates, multi-specific antibodies, and engineered small molecules. Daily work centers on planning and executing non-clinical pharmacological studies to advance discovery projects.

The Discovery Tumor Microenvironment group leads Astellas Oncology Research by leveraging single-cell and spatial transcriptome analysis plus multiplex IHC. Collaboration with academic partners at Kashiwa-no-ha TME iLab drives target identification from clinical samples.

Requirements

  • Pharmacologist with experience conducting in vivo animal studies
  • Knowledge of oncology drug discovery including ADCs and multi-specific antibodies
  • Familiarity with single-cell and spatial transcriptome technologies
  • Ability to design studies that confirm mechanism of action and select candidates
  • Strong motivation to work in a cutting-edge research environment

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct non-clinical pharmacological studies including animal studies to advance oncology projects
  • Identify and select drug candidates through appropriate experimental design
  • Confirm mechanism of action for antibody-drug conjugates and multi-specific antibodies
  • Estimate human dose projections from non-clinical data
  • Apply single-cell transcriptome analysis and spatial transcriptome analysis on clinical samples
  • Perform multiplex IHC to validate novel therapeutic targets in the tumor microenvironment
