AbbVie's mission is to discover and deliver innovative medicines and solutions that solve serious health issues in immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and Allergan Aesthetics. Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are key members of the affiliate medical department. These field-based roles focus on medical and scientific engagement with stakeholders including thought leaders and healthcare professionals.

MSLs represent AbbVie Medical Affairs as subject matter experts in the assigned therapeutic area and territory, providing scientific and technical leadership. They serve as points of contact for external experts to meet needs for scientific knowledge on disease states and AbbVie medicines. Interactions occur in a strictly scientific, non-promotional manner compliant with laws and policies.

Develop and execute scientific interaction plans, contribute to cross-functional account planning, and handle tiering and segmentation of external experts. Ensure strong medical presence in biologic therapy centers via research and educational initiatives. Document HCP interactions and insights in CRS and related systems.

Support internal teams like sales, marketing, and brand teams with scientific presentations while maintaining independence. Assist in initiation, oversight, and follow-up of GMA studies, epidemiological projects, and post-authorization studies. Facilitate investigator-initiated studies as point of contact with external experts.

Requirements

Deep scientific knowledge in immunology, oncology, neuroscience or related therapeutic areas
Experience engaging thought leaders and healthcare professionals scientifically
Familiarity with marketed products, compounds in development, and disease states
Ability to facilitate research initiatives and educational programs in biologic therapy
Knowledge of compliance with national laws, guidelines, and AbbVie policies
Proficiency in documenting insights from HCP interactions in medical systems
Understanding of clinical studies including IIS, GMA, and post-authorization studies

Responsibilities

Represent AbbVie Medical Affairs as subject matter expert in the assigned TA and territory
Serve as a point of contact within the Medical Affairs team for external experts
Develop and execute scientific interaction plans, contribute to cross-functional account planning
Responsible for appropriate tiering and segmentation of external experts and documentation of HCP interactions
Ensure a strong medical and scientific presence for AbbVie in biologic therapy centers
Support internal teams such as sales and marketing with scientific update presentations
Assist in the initiation, oversight and follow up of assigned GMA studies and medical projects
Support prioritized interventional studies with study initiation visits and act as subject matter expert
