About this role
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is establishing a new center of excellence—the Global Pricing & Analytics Group (GPAG)—to build industry-leading capabilities in global pricing analytics. The Senior Director will lead this function within the current Global Value & Access Strategy (GVAS) team, reporting to the VP of GVAS.
This role will shape GPAG’s long-term vision and develop a five-year roadmap for priority technology and pricing capabilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing the global pricing data infrastructure, building a reporting infrastructure that integrates multiple data sources, and automating insight delivery.
The successful candidate will join the GVAS Leadership Team and collaborate closely with stakeholders across US and International Market Access, Global Commercial Strategy, Finance, and DTE. Strong cross-functional leadership and a problem-solving mindset grounded in analytical skills are essential in this complex environment.
As a senior member of the team, this individual will model Vertex’s ethics and culture while developing the next generation of leaders. The role offers the opportunity to shape a new function from the ground up and drive value optimization across the Vertex portfolio.
Requirements
- 12+ years of direct biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience
- 5+ years of supervisory/management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of US and/or ex-US pricing environment required
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills in a complex environment
- Problem-solving mindset grounded in strong analytical skills
- Experience with global pricing analytics, data infrastructure, and reporting automation
- Familiarity with integrating Artificial Intelligence into pricing and analytics capabilities
Responsibilities
- Lead development of a Global Pricing Analytics capability to sustain value optimization for the Vertex portfolio
- Assess the current global pricing data infrastructure and provide recommendations for future requirements
- Develop a set of Global Pricing Analytics deliverables to guide decision-making and performance assessments across disease areas and regions
- Build a Global Pricing Analytics reporting infrastructure that integrates multiple data sources and automates insight delivery
- Serve as the GVAS subject matter expert on Advanced Analytics, including appropriate integration of Artificial Intelligence pilots and capabilities
- Oversee operations for Global Price Governance, including updating guidance documents and managing the annual review process for global price floors
- Lead pricing capability development including lifecycle pricing, launch sequencing, and risk assessment in close cooperation with stakeholders
- Develop systematic P&MA global horizon scanning and internal knowledge management to increase team efficiency
