About this role

The Senior Vice President of Pharmaceutical Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for strategic direction and operational excellence. This individual leads a large organization ensuring efficient and compliant production and delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical products. The SVP is a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to overall company success and growth.

Day-to-day, the SVP oversees all manufacturing operations, quality assurance, supply chain, and project management functions. They ensure adherence to cGMP regulations, drive continuous improvement, and direct sourcing, procurement, inventory, and distribution. Regulatory compliance with FDA, EMA, and other agencies is a constant priority.

The role involves building, developing, and leading high-performing teams across manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management. Financial management includes developing budgets for these areas and ensuring efficient resource allocation. The SVP collaborates closely with the executive leadership team and external stakeholders like regulatory agencies and suppliers.

As a senior executive, the SVP has the opportunity to shape the company’s strategic direction and drive growth through new product launches and facility expansions. Risk management and business continuity are key responsibilities, directly impacting patient safety. This position offers significant influence in a dynamic pharmaceutical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Engineering); advanced degree (MS, MBA, or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry with significant leadership experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management.
  • In-depth knowledge of cGMP regulations and quality systems.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large organizations.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production and adherence to cGMP regulations.
  • Oversee the quality assurance function, ensuring robust quality systems and the highest standards of product quality.
  • Direct the supply chain organization, optimizing sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and distribution.
  • Oversee the project management function, ensuring successful planning and delivery of key projects including new product launches and facility expansions.
  • Maintain strong understanding of global regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with FDA, EMA, and other agencies.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management.
