AI for Drug Discovery Intern
2w2 weeks agoGenentech
New York City, US · Internship · $100,000 – $100,000
About this role
We are rewriting the rules of medicine at Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED). We sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biology, leveraging cutting-edge machine learning to discover novel therapeutics protein designs. Our mission is to accelerate the path from code to cure, tackling diseases previously considered undruggable.
The discovery and optimization of therapeutic antibodies is typically a slow, high-risk process. Next-Generation Sequencing provides millions of raw protein sequences from nature, but translating this biological diversity into clinical candidates remains challenging. You will reframe protein optimization as a sequential decision-making problem.
Build a machine learning system inspired by Reinforcement Learning agents that mimic the adaptive immune system. Learn strategies to navigate the vast sequence space and deliver developable cures. This role is located in New York, New York or South San Francisco, California.
Join an intensive 12-week full-time paid internship, working with talented people in biotechnology. Gain ownership of challenging and impactful projects. A stipend based on location helps alleviate internship costs.
Requirements
- Pursuing PhD or Master's degree (enrolled student)
- Major in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Math, Bioinformatics or related fields
