Verily Pre is a patient-centered platform accelerating evidence generation with cloud-first architecture, advanced analytics, and AI for petabytes of data. As Director of Software Engineering, lead the organization powering AI capabilities and longitudinal health initiatives. Oversee Model Development Lifecycle, AI production, Lifelong health studies, and CIAM.
Build and lead a high-performing team of 40-50 engineers and managers across cross-functional teams. Partner deeply with Data Science, Clinical, and Product leadership to translate requirements into scalable roadmaps. Foster a collaborative, results-driven engineering culture focused on velocity and quality.
Direct engineering for Lifelong Health Study, bridging research and care with sensor signals and real-world data. Own CIAM delivery for secure, compliant access adhering to comply-by-design privacy. Manage resourcing, budgeting, and processes balancing execution and architectural investments.
Shape technical strategy in a dynamic environment generating real-world evidence. Accelerate AI through embedded partnerships and robust tooling for prototyping, validation, and deployment. Champion annotation systems to detect model hallucinations and bias at scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Experience leading large engineering organizations in AI and data infrastructure
- Expertise in Model Development Lifecycle tooling for prototyping, validation, and deployment
- Knowledge of AI systems for annotation, evaluation, hallucination detection, bias mitigation, and RAG
- Background in longitudinal health studies and real-world evidence platforms
- Proficiency in secure identity management and compliance in healthcare data environments
- Track record partnering with data science and clinical teams on scalable roadmaps
Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering organization of 40-50 engineers and managers
- Define and drive the engineering culture, performance standards, and collaboration models across cross-functional teams
- Oversee engineering strategy for Model Development Lifecycle infrastructure, including annotation, evaluation, and foundational model serving for RAG at scale
- Partner with Data Science, Clinical, and Product leadership to accelerate model development and translate scientific requirements into engineering roadmaps
- Direct engineering of Verily’s Lifelong Health Study, capturing sensor signals and integrating real-world data streams
- Own delivery and reliability of Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) system with comply-by-design privacy
- Manage organizational resourcing, budgeting, headcount planning, and cross-functional processes
