About this role
The Child Health Research Center in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State University is seeking a Senior Professional Biostatistician to support interdisciplinary research aimed at improving child health outcomes. This position is located in State College, PA, at the University Park Campus and is funded for 12 months with potential continuation based on university need, performance, and funding availability.
In this role, you will consult and advise researchers on study design, statistical analysis strategies, data collection procedures, and statistical power analyses. You will also oversee the design, development, and coordination of study forms, instruments, measurement protocols, and equipment to ensure robust methodology.
You will collaborate with a diverse team of investigators across the College of Health and Human Development, contributing to projects that directly impact child health. The environment emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and methodological rigor in a university research setting.

Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of study design, statistical analysis strategies, and data collection procedures
- Expertise in statistical power analysis, sample size determination, and randomization schemes
- Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, or equivalent
- Experience in interdisciplinary health research, preferably in child health or related fields
- Ability to consult and advise researchers on methodological approaches
- Strong organizational skills for coordinating study forms, instruments, and protocols
Responsibilities
- Consult and advise researchers on study design, statistical analysis strategies, reliability, and data collection procedures
- Oversee statistical power and sample size determinations for proposed studies
- Design and coordinate randomization schemes for clinical and observational studies
- Oversee the development of study forms, instruments, measurement protocols, and equipment
- Perform statistical analyses using appropriate software and interpret results for research teams
- Prepare statistical reports, tables, and figures for grant proposals, manuscripts, and presentations
- Collaborate with principal investigators to ensure data integrity and adherence to study protocols
- Provide guidance on statistical methodology and best practices to junior team members
