About this role

Perform complete design of less complex process engineering assignments and assist in larger, more complex chemical/process engineering tasks under close supervision. Promote a culture of working safely and apply safety concepts into process design. Familiarity with department standards, procedures, and guidelines is essential upon project assignment.

Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies to determine the simplest, most efficient engineering solutions. Produce estimate-level preliminary designs, material take-offs, detail calculations, and sketches for materials of construction. Ensure designs emphasize efficient material use, ease of construction, and client expectations.

Check calculations by other engineers for accuracy, code conformance, and good engineering practice. Assist the drafting group with layout issues and provide necessary sketches for drawings. Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth information flow and project completion.

Review vendor and other discipline drawings for process input, plus fabrication submittals for conformance. Perform fieldwork to gather data, check tie-ins, and support construction. Participate in professional society meetings and travel as required for projects, clients, or training.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria
  • Knowledgeable of discipline specific methods, practices, and techniques for process and manufacturing projects
  • Ability to produce neatly prepared calculations for checking and drafting use
  • Experience assisting in producing designs with efficient construction materials
  • Skill in advising on design or scope changes
  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university
