About this role
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as a 12-month hybrid Instructor/Assistant/Associate Professor of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. This position supports the college's integrated academic and workforce mission, teaching both credit-bearing and non-credit skills-based courses.
The successful candidate will teach a minimum of 9-11 credit hours and 136-165 non-credit hours per fall and spring semesters, plus summer hours. The schedule may include day, evening, weekend, and off-campus locations, requiring flexibility within the college's operating hours.
PVCC is a public, open access institution in the Virginia Community College System, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. The college is known for its exceptional faculty and staff and seeks to attract individuals who reflect the diverse communities it serves. This role is part of the Health and Life Sciences department, supporting emerging pharmaceutical manufacturing programs.
Appointment begins July 1, 2026. This 12-month position offers the opportunity to integrate learning outcomes assessment into course development and use current technologies to enhance instruction. Faculty contribute to the progress of the college while shaping the future of biotechnology and pharmaceutical education.

Responsibilities
- Teach both credit-bearing and non-credit, skills-based courses in biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Support PVCC’s Biotechnology academic programs and emerging professional offerings in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
- Integrate learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching.
- Use current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction.
- Maintain a flexible teaching schedule including day, evening, weekend, and off-campus locations.
- Contribute to the progress of the college through service and collaboration.
- Develop and update curriculum to align with industry standards and workforce needs.
- Advise and mentor students in academic and career pathways.
