US · Full-time · $108,000 – $126,000

About this role

Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company with over 25 years of pioneering scientific innovations in muscle biology. The company advances a pipeline of potential new medicines for patients suffering from diseases of cardiac muscle dysfunction.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate focused on Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics. The ideal candidate will contribute to pharmacokinetics screening, plasma protein binding, and microsomal assays in support of drug discovery.

This role involves bioanalysis of plasma and tissue samples using Sciex LC/MS-MS along with plasma protein binding and microsomal stability studies. Data analysis with WNL software provides summaries to guide decision-making.

The position offers work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment supporting development of cutting-edge therapies for cardiovascular and skeletal muscle disorders across cross-functional project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field with 2 to 4 years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with DMPK assays including screening, plasma protein binding, and microsomal assays preferred.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to critically evaluate and interpret experimental data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bioanalysis of plasma and tissue samples to determine drug concentrations using Sciex LC/MS-MS.
  • Conduct plasma protein binding studies to determine the binding affinity of compounds using Sciex LC/MS-MS.
  • Perform microsomal stability studies to assess metabolic stability using Sciex LC/MS-MS.
  • Analyze experimental data using appropriate software and statistical methods to provide clear summaries of findings.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal meetings and regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and organization of laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies while adhering to safety protocols.
