About this role

As a senior legal and regulatory compliance advisor at Desjardins, you help design, institute and coordinate the compliance framework and enforce related rules. You ensure that oversight measures such as officer and employee behaviours comply with the organization's standards.

You lead development projects and strategic initiatives that are complex and innovative, requiring extensive knowledge of your specialty area. You make recommendations on the planning and execution of operationally and conceptually complex projects requiring comprehensive analysis and understanding of the organization and line of business.

Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders from many fields; interpersonal savvy is essential. You serve as specialist advisor and subject matter expert, resource person and coach for decision-making bodies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Action oriented, Customer Focus, Interpersonal Savvy, Nimble learning, Strategic mindset

Responsibilities

  • Lead specialized development projects, initiatives and activities that significantly impact the entire organization
  • Design, update, implement and monitor complex action plans, programs, solutions and tools requiring comprehensive knowledge of legal and regulatory compliance
  • Advise clients and partners to help them position, plan, develop, execute and monitor strategic projects and initiatives
  • Identify, analyze and diagnose major issues and make recommendations to decision-making bodies
  • Develop and update policies, standards, models and programs to support the unit's strategic projects and initiatives
  • Offer legal and regulatory compliance programs to internal employees to promote a culture of ethics and compliance
  • Represent Desjardins's position when making agreements with external partners and organizations
