About this role

The Drug Discovery & Translational Sciences Division of Inotiv Corp (DTS) seeks a summer 2026 intern based in Nashville, TN. Join Biochemical Pharmacologists and Biochemists on an exciting project for ex vivo global and targeted proteomic characterization of organ tissue from mammalian species. Utilize biochemistry, high resolution mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics to elucidate diseased tissue pathways relevant to human disease.

Focus on comorbid disease states impacting liver, heart, and kidney through a strategic partnership managed by Inotiv DTS. Work directly with scientists in the Nashville laboratory. Connect with teams across the Inotiv organization as a key team member.

Engage in sample processing of ex vivo organs, contemporary cell culture, novel alternative methods (NAMs), and human FFPE specimens. Operate and maintain mass spectrometry instrumentation like LC-MS/MS and High Resolution MS. Implement sample acquisition methods and perform downstream data analysis.

Proactively share findings to support partnerships with strategic collaborators. Deliver a summary report on project outcomes at internship completion. Contribute to understanding underlying mechanisms of disease in a growing drug discovery company.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution seeking a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution seeking a B.Sc. in Biochemistry
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution seeking a B.Sc. in Pharmacology
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution seeking a B.Sc. in Chemical Biology
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution seeking a B.Sc. in Bioanalytical Sciences
  • Or has graduated from an institution granting degrees similarly
  • Qualify for different levels with combination of advanced education and/or experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop proficiency in sample processing of ex vivo organs and tissue, contemporary cell culture, novel alternative methods (NAMs), and human FFPE specimens
  • Learn proper use and maintenance of contemporary mass spectrometry instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS/MS, High Resolution MS)
  • Develop and implement sample acquisition methods on appropriate mass spectrometer instrumentation
  • Perform downstream data analysis of targeted or global mass spectrometry data
  • Proactively share findings and knowledge to support continued partnership with Inotiv’s strategic partners
  • Prepare summary report on project outcomes at completion of internship
