Tenure-Track Faculty - AI/ML in Drug Discovery

2w

University of Michigan

Ann Arbor, US · Full-time · $200,000 – $400,000

About this role

The University of Michigan invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Drug Discovery. This cluster hire initiative spans the College of Pharmacy, Life Sciences Institute, and Medical School, with Provost support. Mid-career candidates meeting criteria for associate professor or professor with tenure are sought, with appointments aligned to expertise and interdisciplinary collaborations encouraged.

Successful candidates will develop externally funded research programs, publish high-impact work, and teach across learning stages. They will collaborate across U-M units, engage industry for funding, and contribute to a new AI/ML-driven drug discovery center. Leadership roles in the Institute for AI-Driven Therapeutics Discovery (AI-Tx) may be available.

U-M offers a collaborative, resource-rich environment including the newly launched AI-Tx institute to integrate AI/ML and address drug development failures. This supports revolutionizing small molecule and biologic discovery. Joint appointments are considered case-by-case.

The initiative aligns with U-M’s strategic plan, advancing research innovation, interdisciplinary ties, economic impact via startups, and education in AI/ML-enabled drug development. It aims to enhance efficiency, reduce clinical trial failures, and position U-M as a leader in therapeutic innovation.
