The Research Scientist leads and advances scientific investigations, focusing on high-impact biomedical research. This senior role involves designing studies, developing novel methodologies, securing research funding, and mentoring junior researchers. The position suits individuals with advanced degrees and specialized biomedical expertise.

Design, implement, and oversee complex research projects using innovative techniques. Develop new experimental techniques and methodologies while analyzing and interpreting findings with scientific rigor. Contribute to scientific publications and grant proposals using results from literature searches.

Present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings. Assist the Principal Investigator to secure and manage funding through grants and collaborations. Maintain the research program in the PI's absence, managing timelines, resources, and budgets.

Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines for laboratory safety, research ethics, and equipment maintenance. Work within SOM-Pharmacology/Toxicology-Operations at the Main Campus. Advance career through leadership in biomedical research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in a field of science
  • Master’s Degree in a field of science and two (2) years’ laboratory experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field of science and four (4) years’ laboratory experience
  • Postdoctoral research experience preferred
  • Strong background in grant writing preferred
  • Experience assisting in securing external research funding preferred
  • Specialized expertise in pharmacology or toxicology
  • Knowledge of biomedical research methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines for laboratory safety and research ethics, including laboratory equipment maintenance
