In this vital role, be part of an innovative Medicinal Chemistry group responsible for design, synthesis, and purification of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development. Work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) on novel PROTAC approaches to modulate intractable targets. This is an onsite laboratory position at Thousand Oaks.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of laboratory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of laboratory experience
  • Track record of accomplishments (e.g., peer-reviewed publications)
  • Demonstrated ability to scout and troubleshoot synthetic routes and perform high difficulty synthetic chemistry
  • Clear understanding of structural determination using NMR and Mass Spectral techniques
  • Knowledge of purification methods
  • Demonstration of good lab practices with particular attention to safety

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and perform organic reactions for Medicinal Chemistry teams, including troubleshooting synthetic routes and reactions
  • Scout new synthetic routes and perform high difficulty synthetic chemistry
  • Contribute to the design of new compounds and development of structure-activity relationships
  • Perform structural determinations using NMR and mass spectral techniques
  • Purify compounds using a variety of techniques
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and participate in group and project meetings
  • Present to groups and aid in writing papers and patent applications
  • Work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) using PROTAC modality
