AmplifyBio is a leading contract research organization spanning discovery R&D, preclinical CRO services for safety, efficacy, and toxicology studies, and manufacturing for cell, gene, and mRNA therapeutics. The ecosystem includes ADOC, ASET, and the new AMEC in New Albany, OH, providing customizable cGMP suites in a hoteling, CDMO, or hybrid model. AmplifyBio seeks a Senior Buyer (GMP) to build and improve the procurement function at the Cell & Gene Therapy facility.

The Senior Buyer (GMP) leads all procurement activities, including purchasing, vendor management, and client services while supporting multiple clients. Responsibilities include working with the demand planning team on replenishment orders and overseeing daily operations as a key demand planning member. This role ensures preferred suppliers and strategies for indirect and direct categories are implemented effectively.

Operate in a high-growth, fast-paced small company environment at AMEC, partnering with drug developers in an innovation-rich ecosystem for advanced therapies. Act as a trusted business partner with regular stakeholder engagement on sourcing needs. Manage multi-client development processes in a flexible, expert partnership model distinct from typical CDMOs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree with 4+ years of experience, preferably within biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry procurement
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs
  • Expert in procurement processes and sourcing of goods and services for the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Demonstrated success in improving organizational performance by developing and promoting talent and providing learning and career growth opportunities for team
  • Ability to work in a small company and high growth, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with gene or cell therapy is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with demand planning team on replenishment orders
  • Define and establish a highly productive Procurement function that manages multiple clients
  • Oversee daily operations of the Procurement function and serve as key member of demand planning
  • Understand key stakeholder sourcing needs and act as trusted business partner with regular engagement
  • Ensure preferred suppliers, sourcing procedures, and strategies for Indirect and Direct categories (goods/materials and services) are implemented
  • Track and report key functional metrics
  • Provide training and day-to-day support on procurement systems
  • Establish Procurement SOPs for multi-client development process
