Emory Healthcare seeks an experienced pharmacist to oversee the regulatory and compliance program related to federal and state requirements including GA BOP, DEA, DSCSA, and FDA. Oversee and optimize data analytics to identify and prevent controlled substance mismanagement and drug diversion. Coordinate timely investigations of suspected diversion with site leaders and the Drug Diversion Response Team. Perform audits on manual and electronic USP and compliance documentation.
Work collaboratively with internal and system pharmacy, operational, and clinical leadership. Serve as the primary liaison between pharmacy operations, compliance, and leadership for accreditation adherence. Attend meetings on drug diversion, compliance, safety, security, and accreditation.
Provide education, coaching, and training following discrepancies or deviations from standard operating procedures. Evaluate workflow modifications to meet regulatory requirements and prevent diversion. Requirements
- Experienced pharmacist with knowledge of federal and state requirements including GA BOP, DEA, DSCSA, and FDA
- Expertise in diversion prevention and controlled substance accountability
- Familiarity with USP standards, accreditation survey readiness, and patient safety initiatives
- Proficiency in investigating pharmacy medication safety events
- Ability to conduct data analytics for compliance and high-risk practices
- Skills in auditing receiving, ordering, and processing of controlled substances
Responsibilities
- Oversees and optimizes data analytics related to the identification and prevention of controlled substance mismanagement and drug diversion
- Coordinates timely investigations of suspected drug diversion in collaboration with site leaders and the Drug Diversion Response Team
- Assists with education and coaching following a confirmed case of diversion and ensures timely reporting and documentation
- Performs audits related to regulatory requirements including manual and electronic USP and compliance documentation
- Evaluates and facilitates workflow modifications to prevent diversion and meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Reviews and presents key performance indicator data related to regulatory, compliance, and accreditation to leadership
- Serves as the primary liaison between pharmacy operations, compliance, and leadership
- Tracks and assists with REMS program compliance and audits
